Opened in 2020, the facility included an 8,000 all seater stadium to be shared by York City Football Club and York City Knights Rugby League Club and new community leisure facilities, including new swimming facilities, gym, dance studios, outdoor pitches and a sports hall with spectator seating, plus an indoor climbing area and Ariel high ropes course.
Our role was to undertake the feasibility study, outline and full business case, financial modelling and subsequently our team were selected to undertake the procurement of a main contractor and operator for the site.
The facility is now called The LNER Community Stadium and is operated by GLL. It was also a host venue for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
